Or otherwise entitled…
To be perfectly honest, I shouldn’t wish my life away, but I’m very glad to see the back of it!
Hey! I told you I’d see you on the other side, didn’t I?
Well, I’m back.
I always like to try and keep to my promises if I can.
And, even though it’s only the 1st January I’ve already started my “Revolution” today by making attempts to get rid of some clutter at Broccoli HQ – Yay!
I’m unsure how long this enthusiasm will last, but I’ll just keep plodding on with it until it’s done.
Then we can get some MORE clutter and start all over again!
Anyway, I hope you’ve had a wonderful time welcoming the New Year in.
If you managed to stay awake until midnight, well done you!
I went to bed before Big Ben chimed (as mentioned in my last post, I have a child who wakes early…REALLY early!!)…but was then (as anticipated) woken by the fireworks. However, THIS year, our neighbours must have invested ALL their life savings into their celebrations, because the noise of the fireworks went on….and on….and on….
Anyway, since Hannah came into my life, I’ve become accustomed to lack of sleep and waking at silly o’clock, so it wasn’t really a problem.
I’m not getting grumpy about it.
So, seeing as it’s a brand new sparkly year, and two years since I started blogging….TWO WHOLE YEARS!!!!! YIPPEEEEEEEE – I never thought I’d last SO long – I thought I’d have a quick look back on 2015’s posts and see what we got up to.
Every now and again, I’ll get into conversation with someone and the blog may get mentioned and then that person might look at me a bit quizzically, it’ll possibly register who I am, and then they’ll say “Oh, so you’re the Broccoli…..”.
Yep. That’s me. I’m “The Broccoli…”.
It makes me smile. It’s REALLY nice to meet people that read my blogs….and it’s a real compliment that people come back again and again and read them too.
…and it’s lovely that Hannah gets the opportunity to shine a little.
So, thanks guys. Thanks a lot.
Anyway, during this conversation I’ll find myself becoming a bit modest and wave a nonchalant hand and say “oh, I love doing it, but I only blog about once or twice a month…if I’m lucky”. Well, what a shock it was when today I had a look at the blog and saw what we’d really been up to.
I won’t be waving nonchalantly again, I’ll tell you that!
Plus, I looked at our stats and we’re VERY close to reaching 12,000 views!
That’s JUST amazing!
So, my lovelies, here’s our year all summed up in one post…
…and here’s to (hopefully!) another year of blogging.
…and to us all having a happy, healthy and as stress free as possible, year.
So, here we are celebrating our very first year of blogging… ONE. WHOLE. YEAR. A.MA.ZING!!! https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/01/03/its-our-first-blogversary/
And then Hannah and I went on a trip to find a very special bloke in a red suit….and I almost overdosed on Rescue Remedy in the process…https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/01/09/me-my-kid-and-our-search-for-a-man-in-a-red-suit/
My friends love my rants…and have positively insisted that I do more of it…because it makes them laugh. Here I am having a bit of rant about parking. A subject that many special needs mamas and daddies have an issue with every now and again…https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/01/29/annie-has-a-rant/
WHAT a massive surprise (and honour – I’m up there with the big boys! – well, not boys actually, they’re ladies, mostly) to be voted in the top 10 special needs bloggers at Birdhouse. YAY! http://blog.birdhousehq.com/10-blogs-for-parents-by-parents-raising-special-kids/
Special needs daddies don’t get much of a mention, so I tried to do my best to “big them up” a bit. Hope it helped guys! https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/02/13/bigging-up-the-menfolk/
I wanted to do my bit in helping to spread the word about how utterly rubbish it is when you’re out and about with your child and her nappy (or clothes or both!) needs changing. There are some changing places springing up around the country, but we need more….lots, lots more, because it’s really no fun to change your child on the floor of a filthy toilet cubicle: https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/02/19/its-loo-dicrous/
Hannah sign’s “dog” spontaneously…and I nearly fall off the sofa: https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/dog/
Something I wrote about silly proverbs. Little did I know how significant this post would be, nor did I know what was to follow shortly after: https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/03/26/the-inconsiderate-proverb/
Here’s a post I wrote for The Mighty (ooh er, missus!) about the syndrome that Hannah’s diagnosed with: http://themighty.com/2015/03/how-my-daughters-rare-genetic-disorder-bizarrely-enriched-our-lives/
Conductive Education’s been a big part of Hannah’s life for several years now…and so has Rainbow House. Here’s a post written for Firefly (ooh, er, again!) about our experiences of Conductive Education: http://community.fireflyfriends.com/blog/article/conductive-education
A post about chocolate for Firefly…and why I really dislike it: http://community.fireflyfriends.com/blog/article/hop-it-easter-bunny
I never thought I’d be writing this after the post I wrote in March about Proverbs. Part of this was used in the Eulogy I wrote for him. I miss him SO much. https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/04/15/rest-in-peace-grandpa/
We had a general election in the UK. Hannah and I (well, me, actually) thought we could do a MUCH better job for the people of the UK, so here was our manifesto. We didn’t win, btw: https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/vote-broccoli/
Another post I wrote for The Mighty about my Birth Father and the promise I made to him before he died. http://themighty.com/2015/04/the-promise-i-made-my-father-before-he-died/
A very lengthy post about Hannah’s journey so far. Well, it’d have to be lengthy…given I wrote it…and given it covered her life since she was born. I was really overwhelmed to be contacted by a mama on the other side of the pond, just starting out on her own journey who’d come across this post. She said it’d helped her…and that made me a little bit teary (in a good way)…I’m SO glad it helped, because that was one of my aims when I first started blogging: https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/05/01/hannahs-journey/
A guest post by a friend whose daughter (KB – the now multi-award winning Olympian!) took part in the Special Olympics. GO KB, GO!!!!!!! https://mykidlovesbroccoli.wordpress.com/2015/05/06/the-special-olympics-journey-a-guest-post/

I felt very honoured to be asked by Tots 100 – the UK’s biggest blogging community to write a review about special needs bloggers. http://www.tots100.co.uk/2015/05/15/five-blogs-writing-about-children-with-additional-needs/
Here’s a post I wrote for The Mighty. LOVE the photo…but I don’t look like that now *sigh!* http://themighty.com/2015/05/how-our-lives-changed-after-this-photo-was-taken/
